Mullin Receives Award

17 March 2017

Paul Mullin wins Sky Bet League 2’s Goal of the Month Award for February.

SHRIMPS' striker Paul Mullin is the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month winner for February, after receiving 57% of the public vote for his recent winner at Orient.

There seemed no danger when Mullin collected a bouncing ball with three defenders around him. That was until his sweet turn and deliciously curling 25-yard shot for the only goal of the game.

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: “When he picks up a difficult ball, Mullin still has a huge amount to do,

“The goal displayed strength to hold his man off, skill to outwit three defenders, and accuracy and power in the strike. It was a goal good enough to win any game.”

Mullin said: “I was made up to get the goal and getting a result at Orient set up a good month for us.”

“It was one of those where nothing else was on and I managed to get a bit of space for myself so I just hit it and thankfully it went in.”

Mullin beat off competition from Crawley Town’s Josh Payne and Portsmouth’s Gary Roberts.

His goal was chosen after a fan poll on skysports.com.

The shortlist for the poll was decided by a judging panel following suggestions from supporters via Twitter.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; Sky Bet Sponsorship Manager David Tweed and EFL Senior Media Manager Rob Meaden.
