Gillingham 2, Morecambe 0 (Full time)

MORECAMBE lost their final game of the season at Priestfield today.

Two goals from Charlie Lee earned the home side the three points  as Morecambe playted some decent football but failed to trouble the home keeper.

Lee scored the only goal of the half on 18 minutes with a sweetly struck left foot shot from 20 yards out that beat Barry Roche low to his right hand side.

It was a rare moment of threat in the game which saw both sides struggle in the final third. The Shrimps had an early chance when Jordan Burrow raced on Jack Redshaw's right wing cross but at full stretch could not find the target from six yards out.

Alessandra then shot wide before Gillingham ended the half with a chance to make it 2-0 but Roche saved superbly from Joe Kuffour.

Morecambe started the second half strongly and created a string of half chances. Redshaw headed inches wide and Burrow clipped an effort just wide of the right hand post.

Niall Copwerthwaite forcced Paulo Gazzinaga into his first save of note in the 66th minute and Izak Reid saw a shot deflected over after a flowing move.

The Shrimps' hopes of a comeback were dashed on 76 minutes when Gillingham doubled their advantage when Danny Jackman played in Lee and he stabbed the ball past Roche.

Boss Jim Bentley makes one change to the side for the trip to Gillingham.

Craig Curran has got tonsilitis so Lewis Alessandra comes in for a start after scoring from the bench last week. Dan Parkinson has returned from his loan spell at Vauxhall Motors to start on the bench.
